Wood Curtain Wall Systems
KNAPP Connectors provides concealed carpentry fasteners that maintain the optical quality of architectural millwork and shop fittings, while being engineered in an innovative manner for fast processing and application. Whether you need to snap-in or slide-in your components, our concealed fasteners provide numerous solutions that are all self-tightening and designed for fast processing. With multiple products and a high degree of prefabrication, we are confident that one of our woodworking fasteners will provide a perfect solution to fit your needs.
RICON EA Beam Hangers
Timber Curtain Wall Connector | 26 kN load-bearing
The pre-engineered RICON EA (single connector) Beam Hanger allows for the simple and fast joining of wood curtain wall beams. Its design is completely invisible and consists of two identical metal connector plates that hook into each other in a dovetail-like manner. Typically, you can recess one of the plates while the other is screwed on the surface of the beam. Our timber curtain wall fasteners simply attach post and beams and are widely used for wood glass facades. Not only do our wood curtain wall systems mean less installation time, but they also keep the beautiful natural look of your natural wood beams without any connector hardware showing.
Easy Installation:
For easy installation, Drilling and Routing Jigs are available as well as a Mounting kit. The connector plates on the end grain are installed with self-tapping 5×80 mm and 8×80 mm CS-screws and on the side grain with self-tapping 5×50 mm and 8×50 mm CS-Screws. The CS-screws have an integrated stop, thus, on one end, the screw would stand above the connector and engage with the dovetail receiver socket of the other connectors when hooking them into each other. In addition, you can use the RICON EA for engineered timber construction.
RICON DA Beam Hangers
Timber Curtain Wall Connector | 26 kN load-bearing
The pre-engineered RICON DA (Double Connection) series allows for the simple and fast joining of beams and is designed to be used in for timber curtain wall cross joints. This is where your two horizontal mullions meet at the same position on the vertical mullion. Rather than using the RICON EA version where the screws would collide with each, the DA version uses connecting nuts that sit in boreholes that go through the vertical mullion. Typically a recess is cut into the end grain of the horizontal mullions and where one plate is installed with self-tapping 5×80 mm and 8×80 mm SC-screws. On the contrary, the other plates are installed on the vertical mullion with M8x25 CS-screws that screw into the connecting nuts on each end.
Easy Installation:
For easy installation, KNAPP also offers Drilling and Routing Jigs as well as a Mounting kit. The 8×80 mm and M8x25 CS-screws have an integrated stop, therefore, the screw would stand above the connector and engage with the dovetail receiver socket of the other connectors when hooking them into each other. An optional Locking clip can be installed to latch the connector. If needed, the locking clip can be removed later on. Connecting nuts are available for mullion withs of 50mm, 60mm, and 80mm. The RICON DA is available six sizes 60/40, 80/40, 100/40, 120/40, 140/40, and 160/40. Further, two more RICON® versions Single Connection (EA) and Rampa insert (EAR) are available.
FASCO Facade System
Structural Glazing for Wood Glass Facades
FASCO has been specially engineered for the simple installation of wood glass facade and wood curtain walls. Simply attach your FASCO strips onto the glass pane using structural glazing. Next, mount your panels flush on the outside without any protrusion beyond the glass pane. With this in mind, you can also integrate your window and door openings flush with the façade.
Fiberglass Reinforced design:
Its fiberglass-reinforced design meets the highest architectural and engineering demands through statically load-bearing glazing. The high-quality gluing between the glass and FASCO-Profile by certified and authorized personnel is essential. Large glass facades and timber curtain walls can be done without any additional reinforcement. Requirements for buildings and geometry of the HGV element – FASCO profile (load-bearing)
Advantages:
– Meets high architectural and engineering demands.
– Efficient processing reduces installation time by approx. 20% compared to clamping profiles.
– No stiffening of the construction required – replaces wind bracings or steel structures.
– The inner glass pane of the insulating glass takes over the stiffening of the construction.
– Low thermal conductivity by using fiberglass instead of aluminum.
– Silicone weather joints allow plain and uniform facade surfaces.
– A modern looking wood glass facade.
– Pending approval for construction licensing.
