Completed in 2023, the Åfjord VGS School is a landmark project in Norway that demonstrates how timber construction can meet the demands of modern educational buildings. With a floor area of approximately 4,000 m², the school provides state-of-the-art facilities for students in the Trøndelag region.

The project was designed by Lusparken Arkitekter AS and planned by Massivtre AS, who also provided the timber elements. Trøndelag County Council served as the principal client, with construction carried out by Stjern Entreprenør AS.

Key highlights:

Structural performance: The building relied on MEGANT connectors to secure large load-bearing timber beams and columns, ensuring stability and long-term reliability.
Sustainable material choice: Using engineered timber reduced the building’s environmental footprint while delivering modern design and durability.
Efficient construction: Prefabricated timber elements, combined with precision connectors, enabled streamlined installation and minimized onsite construction time.
Educational investment: Åfjord VGS School now stands as an example of how municipalities can use sustainable construction methods to deliver high-quality learning environments.

This project demonstrates how MEGANT connectors enable large-span, high-load timber construction, making them ideal for modern schools and other institutional buildings.
