The Eurospar supermarket in Attnang-Puchheim, Austria was built in 2013 using a solid construction system that combined laminated timber beams, prefabricated wall elements, and an aluminum-glass façade. The project shows how MEGANT heavy-duty connectors support modern commercial architecture with speed and reliability.

The project was led by Dworschak+Mühlbachler Architekten ZT GmbH, with timber construction by Schmid Baugruppe Holding AG and prefabrication by Buchacher Holzleimbau GmbH. GNIGL Projektentwicklung und Errichtungs GmbH acted as the builder, with Spar Österreichische Warenhandels AG serving as project manager.

Key highlights:

Connector technology: MEGANT connectors provided load capacities of 292 kN (MEGANT 990/100/40) and 369 kN (MEGANT 1000/150/50), meeting demanding commercial requirements.
Prefabrication: Wall and roof elements were prepared off-site, enabling quick assembly with minimal disruption to the surrounding urban area.
Design integration: The use of laminated timber alongside aluminum and glass created a modern, open shopping environment.
Construction efficiency: The project was completed in the same year, demonstrating the speed advantages of prefabricated timber systems.
Gross building volume: approx. 1,400 m².

This case study demonstrates how MEGANT connectors allow timber to compete with conventional construction in terms of speed, strength, and architectural flexibility.
