Completed in 2011, the Grundschule Feldkirchen expansion included a modern timber-glass façade that transformed the school’s architectural profile. The centerpiece of the project was a post-and-beam system in laminated timber with aluminum profiles, supporting the school’s largest glass façade at 31 meters long and 8 meters high.

RICON EA connectors were chosen for their concealed design and installation efficiency. Prefabricated timber elements arrived on site with connectors pre-mounted, allowing mullions and transoms to be simply slid into place and secured with minimal tools. The connectors ensured both flush alignment and tolerance compensation, even under challenging site conditions.

Key Highlights:

Connector technology: RICON EA connectors used in LVL/aluminum mullion-transom façade system.
Construction method: Prefabricated elements with pre-mounted connectors enabled rapid installation.
Design features: Concealed connections created clean, flush timber-glass joints.
Performance: Approved for glass loads up to 860 kg; supports interior or exterior mullion insertion.
Use case: Educational building combining durability, aesthetics, and efficient construction.

This project demonstrates how RICON EA connectors simplify façade construction while delivering strength, speed, and a high-quality architectural finish.
