RICON S 60 x 140 – Beam Hanger w/ Screwed Collar Bolt

The RICON S 60 x 140 VK Fixed Beam Connector is a pre-engineered mass timber beam hanger designed for reliable timber-to-timber, timber-to-steel, and timber-to-concrete connections. This VK version uses a screwed collar bolt, providing stable load capacity while offering moderate tolerance adjustment during installation. The connector consists of two identical galvanized steel plates that slide and hook together with only 35 mm of insertion travel.

Installation is straightforward using KNAPP SK self-tapping screws driven perpendicular to the plate. The connector can be installed fully concealed with a routed recess or visibly on the beam surface. An optional locking clip can be added to secure the connection against forces acting opposite the insertion direction.

Material and Installation Requirements

• End-grain attachment: SK screws 8 × 160 mm (or 8 × 240 mm as allowed)

• Side-grain attachment: SK screws 8 × 80 mm

• Minimum timber width: 100 mm

• Connector becomes load-bearing immediately once engaged

• Can be installed fully concealed with a milled recess or visibly on the surface

• Three 5 mm positioning holes must be drilled 50 mm deep in both main and secondary beam (per installation guide)

Shear reinforcement:
If the secondary beam height is below recommended values, fully threaded screws or engineered reinforcement may be required. Structural engineer verification recommended.

• Cut the recess using CNC or the KNAPP MULTI F 40 routing jig.

• Drill the required 5 mm positioning holes to a depth of 50 mm.

• Fasten both connector plates using the specified KNAPP SK screws.

• Install the screwed collar bolt into the main beam.

• Slide the secondary beam into place until fully engaged.

• Connection becomes load-bearing immediately.
