The RICON S 60 x 140 VS is a pre-engineered mass timber beam hanger with a welded collar bolt for maximum load capacity. Designed for fast, repeatable, and structurally reliable post-to-beam and beam-to-beam connections, the system uses two identical galvanized steel plates that hook together in a dovetail-like action. Only 35 mm of travel is required for full engagement, allowing fast drop-in assembly even in tight installation spaces.

The VS variant is tested and approved for high-capacity mass timber applications and is supported by ICC ESR-4300. Installation uses structural screws driven perpendicular to the plate with no pre-drilling required. The connector can be installed fully concealed within a milled recess or visibly on the surface, with optional locking clips available to secure the connection against pull-out loading.

The RICON S 60 x 140 VS is suitable for timber to timber, timber to steel, and timber to concrete connections across mass timber, CLT, glulam, heavy timber framing, and engineered wood structures.

Key Features

  • High-capacity welded collar bolt (VS)

  • ICC ESR-4300 approved for mass timber applications

  • Short 35 mm hooking distance allows fast drop-in assembly

  • Installation with perpendicular structural screws, no pre-drilling required

  • Fully concealed or visible installation options

  • Self-tightening behavior maintains joint compression over time

  • Compatible with hardwoods under ETA extension

  • Allows single or double connector configurations

  • Optional locking clip secures against slide-in direction

  • Can be installed against walls and in confined conditions

  • Disassembly and reassembly possible if needed

  • Suitable for tolerance-sensitive engineered timber fabrication

Applications

  • Mass timber post and beam connections

  • Primary and secondary glulam beam connections

  • CLT to beam interfaces

  • Heavy timber framing and log construction

  • Timber to steel and timber to concrete

  • Engineered timber buildings requiring concealed fire-rated connectors

  • Roof, floor, and canopy assemblies

  • Prefabricated modular and panelized structures

Instructions

  1. Mill the recess using CNC or the MULTI F 40 routing jig for concealed installation.

  2. Position the connector brackets on the beam and fasten using the specified SK screws.

  3. Ensure the welded collar bolt is properly aligned with the receiving bracket.

  4. Slide and hook the beams together until fully engaged. Only 35 mm of travel is required.

  5. Install the optional locking clip if additional mechanical securing is needed.

  6. Connection becomes load-bearing once fully engaged.

Notes:

  • Screws must be installed perpendicular to the plate as shown in the design tables.

  • Follow ICC ESR-4300 conditions if used in code-regulated mass timber projects.

  • Double connector installations must follow spacing and independent screw path rules.
