Completed in 2018, 25 King Street is a landmark project in mass timber construction, standing as one of the tallest engineered timber office buildings in the world. The project demonstrates how KNAPP’s MEGANT and RICON S connectors support large-scale commercial development with high structural and sustainability requirements.

The project was designed and planned by Bates Smart Architects in Melbourne, with structural engineering by Lendlease and Aurecon. Timber construction partners included Stora Enso and Wiehag GmbH, while the builder was Impact Investment Group Melbourne.

Key highlights:

Connector systems: The building incorporated 997 MEGANT connectors and 484 RICON S connectors, enabling strong, reliable load-bearing connections across its 10-story structure.
Mass timber construction: The office tower used timber frame construction with glulam beams and CLT floor panels, delivering durability and design flexibility.
Building scale: At over 16,455 m², the tower provides large-scale commercial office space while showcasing the potential of engineered timber.
Sustainability: Mass timber reduced the carbon footprint compared to traditional concrete and steel, positioning 25 King as a pioneering model for green office construction.
Global recognition: The project has been widely recognized as a benchmark in modern timber construction, featured in industry publications and architectural awards.

25 King Street proves how MEGANT and RICON S connectors deliver structural integrity for large, complex timber projects, paving the way for future tall timber buildings worldwide.
