Addition of Storeys to a Multi-Family House

In Germany, a multi-family housing project was expanded with additional storeys using timber frame construction and KNAPP connectors. The 8-month project shows how modern connector technology enables vertical extensions on existing buildings without compromising safety or speed.
The construction team, led by Braintec GmbH and architect Anselm Kanno, worked with Zimmerei Holzbau Schröder to deliver the project. Structural engineering was provided by Andreas Reinicke.
WALCO V connectors were chosen for their load-bearing capacity and concealed installation, which allowed the new storeys to integrate seamlessly with the existing building.
Key outcomes included:
Structural strength suitable for multi-story expansion.
Efficient assembly with prefabricated timber elements.
Concealed joints that maintained a clean building design.
This project demonstrates how KNAPP connectors can support large-scale residential upgrades by enabling efficient, strong, and modern timber construction.
