Bentesbrugtata Skole – Oslo, Norway
Completed in 2023, Bentesbrugtata Skole is one of Oslo’s latest examples of large-scale educational timber construction. With over 10,000 square meters of floor space, the project reflects Norway’s growing commitment to sustainable, modern school buildings.
The school was designed by Ola Roald Arkitekter and planned and executed by Massivtre AS, with Oslo Bygg KF as the principal client. Major contractors included NCC and Lark Landskap Med Fler, who coordinated the construction of this complex multi-story facility.
Key highlights:
Structural connectors: The project used MEGANT connectors for critical load-bearing joints, providing the strength and reliability required in a large-scale institutional building.
Timber innovation: Engineered timber components, supplied and installed by Massivtre AS, formed the core structure of the building. This demonstrates how wood can compete with concrete and steel in durability while offering environmental advantages.
Sustainability: Timber was chosen as the primary material to support Oslo’s climate goals. The use of renewable building materials reduced CO₂ emissions compared to conventional construction.
Community impact: The school delivers modern, energy-efficient learning environments for students, while standing as a model for future educational facilities in Scandinavia.
Bentesbrugtata Skole shows how MEGANT connectors support advanced timber construction in demanding institutional projects, balancing structural performance with sustainability.
