Completed in 2010, the Community Centre in Hünstetten-Oberlibbach showcases innovative mass timber engineering through its striking dome structure. The building features glued laminated timber arched trusses, with spans ranging from 10.8 to 18.8 meters, creating an open and versatile community space.

To achieve the dome’s strength and precision, RICON S connectors were used to join the glulam elements. The concealed connectors provided high load-bearing capacity and efficient installation, ensuring the dome’s structural performance while maintaining a clean architectural finish.

Key Highlights:

Connector technology: RICON S connectors secured large glulam arched trusses.
Construction method: Dome design with laminated timber arches, spanning up to 18.8 meters.
Design features: Exposed timber structure with concealed connectors for aesthetic appeal.
Scale: Arched span ranging from 10.8 to 18.8 meters.
Use case: Community facility offering a versatile event and gathering space.

This project demonstrates how RICON S connectors support long-span timber structures, enabling architectural freedom and reliable performance in public buildings.
