In 2018, the Gründerdreischule Frankfurt underwent a significant school expansion using timber frame construction and KNAPP’s MEGANT connectors. The project showcases how modern engineered timber solutions can deliver strength, efficiency, and sustainability for public education facilities.

The project was designed by Prosa Architekten + Stadtplanung with support from Stadt Frankfurt am Main and DER MAGISTRAT, with timber construction provided by Krogmann Holzbau. Structural engineering was handled by Wagner Zeitler Bauingenieure GmbH.

Key highlights:

Connector technology: The use of MEGANT connectors allowed for rigid, high-load-bearing joints between glulam beams, ensuring both safety and structural performance.
Construction method: Timber frame construction combined with prefabricated components made the building process efficient and precise.
Building scale: The gross floor area reached 2,788 m² (energy-certified), with a net usable floor space of 705 m² for classrooms and functional areas.
Sustainability focus: By relying on engineered timber, the project reduced environmental impact while delivering a modern, flexible space for students and staff.

The Gründerdreischule Frankfurt project demonstrates how MEGANT connectors support safe, sustainable, and efficient public-sector school construction.
