Indoor Swimming Pool – Ried im Innkreis, Austria

Completed in 2016, the indoor swimming pool in Ried im Innkreis is a major leisure facility designed to serve the local community and regional visitors. The complex covers a gross building volume of 27,000 m³, featuring multiple indoor and outdoor pools, wellness areas, and fitness amenities.
The building’s structure uses solid wood construction with glulam beams supplied by Structurlam. RICON S connectors were applied to secure key beam-to-beam and beam-to-column joints, providing high load capacity and concealed installation for a clean architectural finish.
Key Highlights:
Connector technology: RICON S connectors secured glulam structural joints.
Construction method: Solid wood and glulam construction with concealed beam connections.
Design features: Timber roof structure spanning large pool areas with natural light.
Scale: 27,000 m³ gross building volume.
Use case: Public leisure and swimming complex designed for long-term durability in a humid environment.
This project demonstrates how RICON S connectors enable durable and efficient mass timber structures in challenging environments such as indoor swimming pools, where moisture and long spans demand reliable connection systems.
