KNAPP-DOWEL – Sample Pack

The KNAPP-Dowel Sample Pack includes 100 dowels designed for precision, speed, and long-term durability in woodworking and millwork applications. Each dowel is made from high-strength, weather-resistant POM plastic that won’t shrink, swell, or rot — making it ideal for both interior and exterior use.

Unlike traditional wooden dowels, the KNAPP-Dowel’s threaded ribs and lengthwise grooves create a self-tightening fit that grips firmly without clamping. The design also allows even adhesive distribution when used with KNAPP Adhesive PU+, ensuring strong, permanent joints when desired.

Steps

1. Predrill boreholes according to dowel size:

   • 6 mm dowel → bore Ø 6 mm (machine) or 5.9 mm (hand)

   • 8 mm dowel → bore Ø 8–8.2 mm (machine) or 7.9 mm (hand)

2. Optionally add KNAPP Adhesive PU+ into the borehole for a permanent connection.

3. Insert the dowel using a dowel insertion machine or tap it in by hand with a hammer.

4. Assemble the components using a rubber mallet until flush.

Tips

• The dowel grips best when the borehole is slightly smaller than the dowel diameter.

• Align the dowel so that pressure is applied along the length of the board edge, not toward the edge.

• The threaded ridges allow the dowel to be screwed in or out if removal is needed.

• For CNC machining:

  • 6×28 mm dowel → bore depth 30 mm

  • 8×35 mm dowel → bore depth 40 mm

  • 8×50 mm dowel → bore depth 55 mm

• Chamfer melamine or laminate surfaces 0.5–1 mm for smooth insertion.

• For best results, use PVAc white glue in automated systems for easy cleanup.

• Use up to six dowels per 600 mm length depending on material and load.
