The 17.800 Zipbolt Exterior XT Post Anchor provides a strong, reliable, and weather-resistant solution for mounting exterior posts on decks, porches, and verandas. Designed for maximum structural stability, it features a durable base plate with five anchoring points — including a central lag screw for extra holding power. Its elevated design prevents moisture buildup at the post base, while the flush-mounted plate allows for a clean finish and compatibility with PVC sleeving. Built for long-term durability, the XT Post Anchor is finished with a double epoxy and acrylic-baked coating, ensuring exceptional corrosion resistance in outdoor environments.

Instructions
Steps
-
Prepare the Deck Surface
-
Add additional blocking under the decking as needed to support all screws and the center lag screw.
-
Bore a 10 mm (3/8 in) pilot hole at the mounting point.
-
-
Install the Main Shaft
-
Insert and tighten the lag end into the deck using a 10 mm wrench.
-
Stop when the machine thread section is ready to receive the base plate.
-
Wax may be applied to the lag thread for easier installation.
-
-
Attach the Base Plate
-
Slide the base plate over the shaft and tighten clockwise with a 17 mm wrench until flush with the deck surface.
-
Install all four outer screws for maximum strength.
-
-
Prepare the Post
-
Mark and drill a 38 mm (1-1/2 in) side hole to the specified depth.
-
Drill a 25 mm (1 in) center hole 19 mm (3/4 in) deep, then continue through with a 16 mm (5/8 in) bit until the two holes meet.
-
Ream the center hole if necessary.
-
The post should fit freely over the base plate nut.
-
-
Assemble and Tighten
-
Place the post over the shaft and insert the curved washer, pushing it to the very end of the shaft.
-
Install the gear housing and tighten using a 6 mm hex bit with a hand or power tool.
-
Finish by covering the access hole with a plug or sliding on a post sleeve.
-
-
Final Check
-
Ensure the post is firmly seated, straight, and secure.
-
For larger posts, the base plate can be routered into the post for a flush, concealed appearance.
-
Tips
-
For best corrosion resistance, use stainless or epoxy-coated screws.
-
