GIGANT 180 x 40 Heavy Timber Beam Hanger

The GIGANT 180 x 40 is a high-capacity concealed beam hanger engineered for heavy timber, log building, and mass timber construction. The connector consists of two identical steel brackets that interlock through a dovetail-like engagement, allowing the secondary beam to slide into position quickly with immediate load transfer.

One bracket is recessed into the primary beam while the mating bracket mounts directly to the secondary member using KNAPP SK screws. The short hooking path supports rapid on-site installation, and the self-tensioning connector geometry maintains long-term joint compression. The connection can be installed fully concealed or visible depending on the project requirements.

Material and Installation Requirements:

• End grain installation: SK screws 10 x 120 mm

• Side grain installation: SK screws 10 x 80 mm

• Immediately load-bearing once engaged

• Can be installed concealed with a recess or visibly when required

• MULTI F 40 Routing Jig for creating the recessed housing with consistent depth and geometry

1. Create the recessed housing using CNC or the KNAPP MULTI F 40 routing jig.

2. Pre-drill screw positions using CNC or the GIGANT drilling jig.

3. Install both brackets using the prescribed KNAPP SK screws.

4. Slide the beams together until fully engaged.

5. The joint becomes immediately load-bearing upon engagement.
