WALCO Z40 Wall Connector

The WALCO Z40 Wall Connector is a visible structural connector designed for joining timber frame walls, CLT panels, and solid timber elements. The system consists of two identical steel connector plates installed on opposing wall elements. When the panels are brought together, the plates interlock along their guide slopes, creating a stable mechanical connection that is immediately load bearing.

The connector requires only minimal milling on one side and uses large SK screws with an integrated drill point to ensure fast and reliable installation in solid or engineered wood.

• Mill the Receiver Side

  • Mill 40 mm wide × 15 mm deep (reduce depth by joint tape thickness if applied).

• Pre-Drill

  • Use the WALCO template and pre-drill with a 6 mm drill bit.

• Mount the First Plate

  • Install using two SK 10 x 60 mm screws.

• Mount the Opposing Plate

  • Install the second plate in mirrored orientation on the adjoining wall.

• Engage the Connection

  • Bring the wall elements together with a vertical offset of roughly 70 mm.

  • Slide the elements downward until the plates fully engage.

• Verify the Joint

  • Ensure the plates are fully seated and the wall faces are aligned.
